My Spirit rejoices in God my Savior!" Luke 1:47

During Jesus time this morning we learned that because of sin, we need a Savior.  God loved the world so much that He gave His Son to save us all from the punishment of our sins.  All along, God knew what needed to be done.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can trust that our caring God always knows what we need.  We rejoice that our Savior was born!

Gym time

During small group time we practiced quickly recognizing the number of objects in a set.  (This is the ability to subitize.) The friends practiced multiple other skills during this game including matching and retelling the Christmas story.

They practiced identifying letters as they played alphabet bingo.

The friends used their creative thinking and the loose parts to decorate a tree.

Free choice time

During second free choice we had so much fun watching the snow fall.  The friends had many questions about the snow.

"Does the snow come from the sky?"

"Is snow ice?"

"How are snow and ice different?"

We capitalized on this interest by gathering ice and snow for the friends to compare and explore.

"The snow feels squishy but the ice feels hard!"

"The snow is melting!  It's turning to water!"

"It's melting because it's hot in here."

"Where did the snow go?"

"It all melted!"

We wondered what would happen if we put the water back outside in the cold.  We will find out tomorrow!
