Welcome back to school!

Don't forget that our class is singing during the 9:30 service this Sunday, January 22nd.  If you have not returned your pink slip that tells us if your child will be attending, please do so as soon as possible.

Morning free choice time is a not only fun, but it is a time the friends can learn and practice important skills.  Many important social skills are developed during morning free choice including self-regulation (the ability to not do something you really want to do as in knock over someone's tower), problem solving (Why does my tower keep falling over?  I better try a different way), conflict resolution (How many minutes until my turn? Let's go to the work it out table), and cooperation (Who can help me with the puzzle?)

During morning meeting we danced to one of our favorite songs.  If you want to dance to the song too- click HERE. :) (It is super fun!)

After snack time, we went to the chapel.  Camp Lakeview came and presented information about their summer camps.  Our friends enjoyed dancing to the fun songs and laughing at the funny skit!
(If you have older children, and you are interested in sending them to Camp Lakeview click HERE.

Personally, I have a special place for summer camp in my heart.  Pastor Matt and I met while working at a summer camp.  :)

During small group time we added more details to our map of what we see when we drive to school.

We worked together to complete the community puzzle.

We also finished our safety signs with Mrs. Zwettler.

During Jesus time, we read the story of Jairus' daughter who Jesus rose from the dead.  We learned that because of sun in the world, we will all experience sadness and death.  However, we learned that Jesus is more powerful than death!  He takes our sadness away.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can trust in God to help with any of our problems, no matter how large.

Second free choice

Exploring magnetic properties

Nora made a birthday card for her mom!

During small group time we practiced writing letters in rice.  This kinesthetic activity causes more synapses to fire in the brain.  In turn, this will help us remember the letters!

Independently, we wrote in our journals.

With Mrs. Lipsey, we practiced recognizing letters, numbers, and shapes as we played one of our favorite games: wiggle worm!
