Happy Pajama and 100s Day!

Our day began this morning with a staff made breakfast in the gym.  It was so fun to see the whole school enjoying breakfast together!

Mr. Borcherding (Senior) led devotions today.  We remembered that when we build ourselves on Christ our rock, we can not be moved!

We added pennies and change to the penny war jars!

Back in the classroom, we had free choice time.

Then we did our morning meeting.

We stopped in the gym to see all of the 100s day activities that the Kindergarten was doing.  The friends were excited to do those same activities next year with Mrs. Cronauer!

We then had a dance party!

During small group time we practiced counting cheerios in groups of 10 and 20 in two different small groups. We strung our cheerios on pipe cleaners and made them into bracelets!  This activity strengthens fine motor skills as well as helps develop meaningful counting and one to one correspondence.

In the third group, the friends created in the Legos.

During Jesus time, we reviewed the story of the blind man by singing the song we learned about the blind man.  :)  Jesus saves us from our sin-sickness!  He died and rose again so that we can live forever with Him.

During second free choice, the friends wanted to continue stringing cheerios.  We extended the activity by placing number cards on the table.  The friends then took a card and counted out the same amount of cheerios to put on the pipe cleaner.

Eli wanted to test and see how many letters I know.  :)

During small group time the friends read books independently.

They also practiced subitizing with Mrs. Lipsey as they rolled a dice and jumped that same number of times.  (This also strengthens one to one correspondence.)

With me, the friends picked a number, identified it, and added that many cheerios on their pipe cleaner.  This increases number recognition, counting, and one to one correspondence.  Furthermore, it increases fine motor skills as well!
