Mr. Borcherding, our worship director here at Our Shepherd, led our  beginning devotion today.

Some of the friends brought change in for the penny wars.  We worked hard to sort out the change to put in our jars and other class's jars as well!

Morning meeting

Gym time

We practiced hopping with a fun relay!

As I set up for small group time, Mrs. Zwettler read a book to our friends.

We wrote in the rice independently.

We also made a list of things we need to build our city.  We worked to sound out words and write letters for our list.

With me, the friends shared why they love our school and I recorded it.

Legos are a great way to engage in creative thinking as well as strengthen fine motor skills!

Creation station creations :)

One of the goals of early childhood education is to foster a love of reading.  We work to pick fun and engaging stories in our classroom library.

Exploring maps

Working together in the marble works

During small group time we practiced subitizing and one to one correspondence as we rolled a dice and jumped the corresponding amount of times.

We also explored the wood pieces.  Many of the friends created letters.

With Mrs. Lipsey we worked with "letter dough" and practiced correct letter formation.

During goodbye time we were reading King of the Zoo.  One of the friends asked, "If he wants to be king, why doesn't he just fight the other animals?"  We had a discussion about why/why not Carlos the chameleon should fight other animals.  We then discussed what if the book was about people?  Would it be a good idea to fight other people to be king?  This was a great time to engage in thinking skills, problem solving, empathy, and language development!
