Thursday, October 1

I can't believe it is already October!  This morning we began our day with chapel with our DCE Mr. Marquardt.  He shared with us the story of Joseph from the bible.  We learned that what people meant for bad, God turns to good!

Back in the the classroom, we read a book and discussed our celebration of learning for our Butterfly / Moth project.  We practiced what we would sing and the friends pretended to take a microphone and share what they have learned.  Some friends chose to speak it and some chose to sing it!

At home ask your child what he / she has learned.  If they have questions feel free to share them with me or research them at home too! :)

Playground work

The friends continued to work on their butterflies and items to test and see if they fly.  They have been working hard to edit their prototypes and see how they can change the design to make it fly. They are learning creative thinking skills, problem solving skills, and persistence!

The friends are practicing positive conflict resolution as they work together in the blocks.  they are applying what we have learned to resolve their conflicts independently! This is an important social skill that will positively impact the friends for the rest of their lives!

Some friends practiced reading the words on our alphabet!  We love to read! :)

After lunch we practiced writing our names, explored the items in the table, and explored our spatial reasoning with the pattern blocks.  We also read some of our favorite books!

On our nature walk today we checked on the caterpillars.  If you can believe it there are still more there! We observed the cocoon and shared our observations.

We then created representations of our observations in our nature journals!

As we were leaving, one of the friends had his hand close to the caterpillar and it crawled on him!  The friends enjoyed watching it crawl!
