During Jesus time we read about the biblical truth of Easter.  We remembered that the Bible is true.  Some people will tell us that parts or all of the Bible are just stories, but they are wrong.  We reviewed the story of Easter and thanked God for sending Jesus to be our Savior!

During small group time we set up some bird houses outside our classroom window to help us observe birds.

With Mrs. Dohrman we dictated our experiences with birds.

(Mrs. Zwettler was home with a sick child.  We are praying for healing for her family!)

Independently, the friends worked to complete a bird floor puzzle.

During snack time some of the fiends were worried that the geese would eat all of the bird food.  We had a discussion of how we could stop the geese from eating all of the food for the birds.  The friends came up with some creative plans for trapping the geese and keeping the gene away.

During gym time we worked to strengthen our core muscles.

We then played with the balls!

Free choice time

Looking for birds

The friends strengthen their fine motor skills and spatial relationship skills as they explore the geoboards.

"I found some birds in this book!"

"We are drawing our plan to keep the geese away."

"Let's make a robot coyote to scare the geese!"

"Hurry!  The eggs are going to hatch!"

"I'm hiding the eggs so that they are safe from the geese!"

The finished plan for the robot coyote.

Some of the friends had a long discussion on how to share the bird wings.  They problem solved together and resolved the conflict without adult support.  They are learning valuable skills that will positively impact them throughout their lives!

Working on the puzzle

Celebrating our success!  The puzzle is complete!

Relaxing with a good book :)

Friend: "Oh no!  The birds fell into the water!"

Mrs. Douglas: "Can the birds swim?"

Friend: "Hmm...I don't know.  Maybe we should investigate that."

During morning meeting we read this book about robins.  We noticed that their eggs are blue!  We then discussed if we have ever seen a blue egg.  The discussion engaged our prior experiences with birds and their eggs while expanding our language skills!

During gym time we had a dance party!

Second free choice time

Observing birds

We tried to see which birds we saw using a bird guide.

Exploring light with the mirrors

Painting birds

Engaging our senses as we explore in the sensory table.

Some of the friends made a big nest for the eggs!

During second small group time we did a puzzle.

We read a book with Mrs. Dohrman.

We made birds out of play dough with Mrs. Helmkamp.

With me, we observed birds and tried to match them to the bird guide.
