During Jesus time today we learned the story of Jesus visiting Mary and Martha.  We learned that Mary listed to Jesus while Martha was busy.  We learned that we should never be too busy to listen to Jesus!

During small group time we worked to deliver the letters we have written and placed in the mailbox.  This activity increases letter recognition and visual discrimination in a meaningful way.  They have been so excited to deliver their letters!

Independently, the friends worked to create a pattern with buttons.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends worked together to paint a canvas that we will continue to add to throughout the week.  We will hang the canvas in our classroom once it is completed.

Independently, the friends worked to write words that they saw in books increasing letter recognition and concepts of print.

Look how our friends help each other!

Outside time

Free choice time

During morning meeting, we worked together to write the morning message.  Then, the leader of the day leads the class as we read the message together.

Second outside time

Second free choice

During second small group time the friends drew the letters that they saw in the book.  Many friends mentioned the punctuation and spaces that they noticed too!  This strengthens valuable concepts of print!

With Mrs. Zwettler the friends painted with matchbox cars.

With Mrs. Helmkamp the friends used droppers to count out how many drops it would take to fill various items.

With me, the fiends practiced recognizing numbers, counting out that amount, and ordering numbers 1-10.
