During Jesus time we learned that Jesus died to save us from our sins, but it doesn't end there!  Jesus rose again on Easter! We thanked God for sending His son, Jesus, to die and rise again to take away our sins.

During small group time we started our bird project!  We webbed all that we know about birds.  We will use this to compare to the web about birds at the end of the project to see what we have learned.

With Mrs. Dohrman, the friends drew a picture of a bird.

(Thank you Mrs. Dohrman for helping in our class while Mrs. Zwettler was home with one of her sick children today! )

Independently, the friends used good junk to make a bird house!

Gym time!

We were able to jump around on the track mat too!

During free choice time the friends enjoyed exploring all of the new bird things in the classroom!

"We each can have three eggs."

As the friends work to share the eggs, they are learning foundational math concepts!

"I am weighing the eggs."

"I made a sign up sheet for the bird wings."

"I'm going to draw this bird!"

"I made a nest to keep my eggs safe and warm!"

Bird watching in the explore on the floor area.

The friends helped make a tree for the birds!

Looking for birds

During morning meeting we each took a turn with the sharing stick.  We shared the things we did over spring break! This increases our language development and expression.

Second free choice time

Making and selling "free" birdhouses.

We love reading!

Working together to complete a puzzle.  We are increasing our spatial relationship skills!

During second small group time we added details to the pictures of birds that we drew in the morning.

We used good junk and problem solved together to create bird houses.

With me, the friends read books about birds and shared more about what we know about birds.  The reason we ask what the children know about the topic that we are studying is to engage their prior knowledge and identify misconceptions and interest.  This helps us guide the students learning as the project progresses!
