This morning Mr. Kyle Borcherding, our Vicar and Worship Director, led us in chapel today!

We then went to the classroom and read some new books during morning meeting.

On the hill we had fun exploring and running!

(My apologies for the lack of pictures on the hill.  My hands have yet to adjust to the cooler weather!)

After snack, the friends went right to work in the band room.

The friends used the timer to take turns with various instruments.  They incorporated the music vocabulary we have discussed thus far. (Conductor, instruments, compose, melody)

Some friends chose to build in the blocks.  Do you notice the pattern that they used to create their tall tower? (two up, one over, two up, one over) Patterns are all around us!

We used good junk to begin making our own instruments. The friends thoughtfully looked for pieces of good junk to use for their instruments.  They are engaging in the highest level thinking skill (according to the updated Bloom's Taxonomy) as they create.

"I need three rubber bands."

"I need a long tube and some springs."

"If you blow soft, it plays soft music.  If you blow too loud, the music is too loud."

Some friends composed their own music!

After lunch we continued exploring music in the music garden.

We noticed that there are different sounds if our hands are on the instruments and if our hands are not on the instruments.  We wondered why that is?  This is something we will add to our wonder wall of questions!
