This morning our DCE (Director of Christian Education) Joel Marquardt led our chapel!  We all drew pictures of things that we are thankful for and laid them on the altar signifying that all of our gifts come from God.  We thank and praise God for all that He has given us.  We learned the verse from Psalm 107 "Oh give thanks unto the Lord for He is good!"

Back in the classroom we played one of our favorite games - Doggy Doggy Where's Your Bone?  In this game one friend is in the middle closing his / her eyes while someone "hides" the bone behind the back of a friend.  The person in the middle opens his / her eyes and guesses who has the bone.

Today our friends needed extra support to manage some of the parts of the game.  Some friends were upset because other friends were "spoiling" the fun by telling where the bone was hiding.  This led to a rich discussion that incorporated many important social skills.  We decided that we need to make a list of the rules as a reminder.  This was also a great time to incorporate meaningful writing practice!

We then went to the hill!  Boy it was windy!

During free choice work time some friends chose to express themselves in their writing.

Some friends practiced counting with one to one correspondence, subitizing, and taking turns.

Some friends chose to express themselves musically. . .

while other friends used what we learned about the block dominoes yesterday to make a longer domino track. . .

still other friends chose to express themselves as they painted!

After lunch we went to the outdoor classroom.  I wish you could have heard all the laughter! The friends and I had so much fun being silly on a very windy day.  :)
