8/19/2020

As I mentioned the past two days, we are focusing on learning the routines of school.  Today and for the next coming week or two we will be primarily focusing on learning the routines of school.  This sets our school year up for success and helps your children know exactly what to expect for the entire year.  This alleviates stress on your children's brains and allows them to focus on other things - such as learning! :)

As we learn our new routines,  I am also learning how to best incorporate our new safety measures.  I want to ensure that you feel comfortable and confident with your child in our care, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me at any point with any question or concern.

This morning we read a book called Tap the Magic Tree. This book is interactive and the friends though it was so fun to see the changes on the pages.

We were able to play on the playground this morning! The friends exercised their large muscles and created some cooperative games together.  Our friends are beginning to build relationships with one another!

We then lined up to head over to the Hill to play and explore.

The friends are using motor planning as they navigate the various aspects of the hill.

After washing our hands and having a snack, we went to explore the outdoor classroom.

"This tower is taller than us!"

"It might fall down!"

"I need six scoops of dirt for this recipe."

The friends used the number lines to practice rote counting, apply one to one correspondence as they scooped one scoop of dirt for each number, and as they used them to compare the items in the outdoor classroom.

"I have 5. See?  5 is closer to 10."

"Look!  A green bean!"

"Let's count them together and see how many towers we have."

"Can I draw what I see?"

"I want to draw too!"

The friends made an elaborate restaurant together!

"I am making a fire!"

After lunch we all went to the bathroom and washed our hands before our walk.  As the friends waited for everyone to be finished in the bathroom, we explored ten frames, gems, and insects!

"I put two gems in each square!"

"Bzzz!  He is gonna get you!"

Once everyone was done, we started our nature walk.  We were sure to check on the berries and the torn bush!

We noticed that the berries are still white and green!  I wonder if they will change any colors over the coming weeks?

We did not have enough time to run out to the music garden, but we did take a moment to sit and enjoy God's creation and the beautiful day.  We reminded each other that God created the world and that He sent Jesus to die on the cross and save us from our sins. We sang "Jesus Loves Me" and "Jesus in the Morning" before saying a short prayer and heading back inside to set up our cots for rest.

"There are no clouds in the sky today!"

We ran back in short spurts!

Before entering the classroom, we noticed a hawk!  As we turned towards our classroom door, we noticed four more flying in the sky!
