Happy National Lutheran School's Week!

This week we take a little detour from our regular routine to participate in extra fun activities to celebrate our school!

We have the unique privilege here at Our Shepherd to share freely the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!  What a gift!

During this week, we begin each day with announcements and a school wide devotion.

Mr. Kyle Borcherding led our devotion today!

After school wide devotions, we had Drop Everything And Read (DEAR) time.  Members of the student council read to our class, the preschool, kindergarten, and first grade.

Mrs. Miller is one of the teacher sponsors for Student Council.  She read to us too!

Gym time!

Free choice time

During free choice time, I worked with the friends individually on some assessments.  :)

We love making paper airplanes!

During morning meeting we played a game to help us practice composing and decomposing numbers.

I showed the friends five bears.  They then closed their eyes while I took away some bears.  Then, the friends worked to see how many bears were hidden based on the bears that they could see.  This would be a great game for you to play at home with your child too!

Second free choice time

During second small group time we explored keys.  We weighed and measured the keys.  We observed the letters and numbers on the keys.  We used comparative words as we compared the keys.

With Mrs. Helmkamp the friends observed the license plates (Thanks Mr. Anderson!) and the various shapes, letters, and numbers on them.

With Mrs. Zwettler, we strengthened our fine motor skills as we cut out pictures of cars and glued them for inspiration in the creation station.

We also explored with the science items on the floor.
