During Jesus time we reviewed the story of Jesus as a young boy.  We reviewed our bible verse for the week, "God is with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9.  We also practiced our song for when we sing in church on Sunday, January 21st.

For large motor time we had a dance party in the classroom!

Free choice time

The friends like to see how the light shine through their paper!  We discussed how this is like the light of Jesus that shines through us!

One of the friends taught others how to make paper airplanes!

Today we began changing our dramatic play center to prepare for the car project.  The children are already playing with important concepts about cars.  This engages their brains for our car project!

Driving in the car

"Please buckle up.  We can't leave until everyone is buckled."

We started making some cars out of the boxes.  We discussed how many friends should go in each "car."

"Well this box is small so only one friend can fit in it."

"Look!  Two can fit in this box!"

"I think three can fit."

"Yeah but it would be so squished."

Adding details to the boxes

"We need a steering wheel!"

One of the friends independently made a sign up sheet for taking turns in the "cars."

"Before we get in the car we need to sign up!"

"How are we going to make the cars go?"

"They need gas!"

"Yeah!  We need a gas station!"

Working on the gas station

"Here is the sign up sheet for the big car."

Another friend independently created this sign up sheet for the big car!

During morning meeting we made a list together of the supplies we need for the car area in the dramatic play.

Second free choice time

The friends were excited to sign up for a turn in the cars!

We painted the gas station too!

Making shapes with the geoboards

I forgot to take pictures at small group time.  My apologies.

With me, the friends worked on letter formation.

Independently, the friends strengthened their fine motor skills with the play dough.

With Mrs. Helmkamp the friends strengthened their fine motor skills as they picked up one bean at a time and put it on the shape.

With Mrs. Lipsey, the friends practiced patterning.
