During Jesus time we learned about Jesus as a young boy.  We learned the Bible verse from Joshua 1:9, "God is with you wherever you go."  We also practiced our song that we will sing at the 10:30 service on Sunday, January 21st.

During small group time the friends engaged their prior knowledge of cars as they drew pictures of cars.  The drawings allow the children to express what they know about cars in a different way.  It provides insight to the children's perception of cars that they might be unable to verbalize.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends practiced correct letter formation and pencil grip as they wrote words related to cars.

The friends strengthened their fine motor skills and reviewed shapes as they placed one small bean at a time of the outside of the shape.

They also explored, sorted, and patterned with the transportation manipulatives.

They gym was occupied, so we had large motor time in our classroom!

During free choice time, the friends answered the question of the day.

Creating together

Learning how to develop relationships with one another is an important social skill.

Working together in the Legos

During morning meeting we read this book.  We engaged our critical thinking skills as we discussed - Do snowmen move around at night?  Here are some of our responses:

"I have never seen a snowman move.  It has a carrot nose, but the carrot doesn't move."

"No.  Snowmen stay in the yard because they are non-living."

"Snowmen can't walk, so they stay in the yard."

I encourage you to continue this discussion with your children at home!
Ask your child questions like:

"Could the snowman move if it was a robot snowman?  How?"

"What if someone dressed up as a snowman?  Could it move then?  Why/why not?"

"Do you think the snowman would drink hot chocolate if it were a living thing?  Why/why not?"

Building together

One of the friends independently practiced the alphabet!

During small group time we worked on letter formation.

We also strengthened our fine motor skills with play dough!

With Mrs. Lipsey, we practiced patterning.

The friends also strengthened their fine motor skills as they picked up one small bean at a time to add to the shapes on the paper.
