During chapel Mr. Borcherding shared with us about Epiphany!  Epiphany is when we celebrate the wise men visiting Jesus.  It occurs 12 days after Christmas, hence the popular Christmas song The 12 Days of Christmas.  :)  (This is why we leave our Christmas decorations up until Epiphany. :) )

Before we left for Christmas break, the friends showed an interest in cars.  We are very excited to begin a Car Project in our class!  (To learn more about the Project Approach click HERE.)  Please look for an email with more information of how you can become involved with our project!

During small group time we practiced letter formation with Mrs. Zwettler as we wrote words that relate to cars.

We reviewed shapes and strengthened our fine motor skills as we used two fingers to pick up a small bean and place it on the outline of the shape.

The friends explored the car/transportation manipulatives.  Some friends chose to sort them while other friends practiced patterning.

With me, the friends dictated what they know about cars and what they wonder about cars.

During free choice time, the friends answered the question of the day. The question of the day is a new routine that will help increase print concepts and provide opportunities recognize familiar words and engage in writing practice.

Collaborating together is a skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives!

We counted how many scoops it takes to fill the bucket!

The question of the day.

During morning meeting we learned a new letter cheer to help us recognize the letters and their sounds.

Gym time

During small group time we continued to strengthen our fine motor skills with the beans and shapes.

The friends continued to explore the car/transportation manipulatives.  Some friends chose to sort them while other friends practiced patterning.

We strengthened our fine motor skills more with play dough and letter mats.

With me, the friends practiced writing their name with correct letter formation.
