During Jesus time we learned the story of Joseph and his brothers found in Genesis 37 and 45.
We learned the three following rhyming emotions to help tell the story.

We learned that sometimes people in families are mean or unfair to each other.  We learned that Jesus forgives families when they treat each other unkindly and feel jealous or hateful.  He leads us to follow His ways.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit we know that God works His good will in our lives.  He guides us to have forgiveness and peace in our families.

During small group time we explored magnets.  We worked to discover: Is it magnetic?  We wondered if robots would be magnetic?

We used wood pieces to make letters.  This not only increases letter recognition, but it also helps the friends learn how to form the letters.

The friends also read books in the library.

With me, we explored a slinky.  As we explored we discussed new vocabulary including vibrations.  We explored math concepts as we compared which is longer.  We explored comparative words including bigger, smaller, longer, and shorter. We also asked questions for further exploration.

"Is this like a spring?"

"How does it stretch?"

Outside time

Free choice time

We encourage the children to write labels for their drawings.  This is something that you can do at home with your children to incorporate meaningful writing.

Children go through various stages of writing, so if your child is not writing conventional letters yet, have no fear!  Check out this article HERE for more information about writing with your child at home.

Look at these friends collaborating to complete a puzzle!

Creation station provides an opportunity for the friends to not only create, but to also strengthen their fine motor skills!

Look at the collaboration in the blocks today!  Collaboration is a skill that will benefit the children throughout their lives!

One of the friends chose to read a book!  Although the children are not reading conventionally, they are learning important concepts of print including print carries meaning, print orientation, and tracking from left to right.

During morning meeting we practiced crossing the midline.  We also practiced counting 1-20 and backwards from 10.  We read this fun book too!

Second outside time

During second small group time we read books in the library.

We worked with Mrs. Zwettler to make letters!

With me, we used craft sticks to make shapes. We differentiated between the different shapes as we created them.

"The rectangle is longer than the square."

"The triangle has four sides."

Second free choice

The friends began creating bigger robots.  They worked together to share supplies and write programs and labels for their robots.

"Our robot is designed to sort out the chocolate."
