The friends enjoyed problem solving with the marble works today.

The marble works provide many opportunities for us to scaffold the friends' learning.  We ask questions to further the children's learning as they work.  Examples of some of the questions we ask include:

"Why is your marble going straight down rather than going down the ramp?"

"How many marbles can go at a time?"

"I wonder why your ramp keeps falling over?"

Dominick problem solved and shared that the big marbles are too big for the marble ramp.

Acting out the story of Jesus' birth

We went for a short (ten minutes) run outside.  The friends were so excited to see the snow falling!

During small group time Mrs. Zwettler and the friends worked on a manger ornament to remind us why Christmas is important!

Then the friends wrote in their journals.

With me, the friends played the roll a Christmas tree game.  Their ability to subitize is getting stronger!

During Jesus time we reviewed how the angels appeared to the shepherds.  We then played a game similar to pin the tail on the donkey.  The friends closed their eyes and "pinned" either the angel or the shepherd on the flannel board.  (The angel went on the top and the shepherd next to the sheep.)

We then praised God saying "Glory to God! Our Savior has been born!"

Indoor recess

During small group time we used pattern blocks to complete various Christmas puzzles while I worked with some of the friends one on one on subitizing and number recognition.

We also finished our Christmas tree ornaments!
