What an exciting surprise to come to school and see that two of the chicks hatched!

Thank you Mrs. Borcherding for providing your expertise and help for our sweet chicks!

Giving the chicks water

During Jesus time today we learned about a man from Africa.  (You can read the story at home in Acts 8:26-40.)  We learned that sometimes we don't listen to or understand God's word.  Through God's word, the Holy Spirit works faith in our hearts so we believe in Jesus our Savior.

Outside time

During small group time we observed the chicks.  We drew pictures and labeled our observations of the chicks too!

With Mrs. Dohrman we increased our recall skills by identifying the item that was removed from the tray.  Increasing recall skills is important for memory and information retention.

Independently the friends created in the pattern blocks.

With me, we worked on our name tags for the bird show.  Look at the space in-between the words the friends wrote!  Learning to recognize spaces between words is an important concept of print.

Free choice time

"We should name the chick beaky!"

"I see more eggs with cracks!  They are going to hatch!"

"Let's read some books about chicks!"

When a child's interest is engaged, he/she is more motivated.  This self-motivation to learn is an important disposition that we want to foster in the early years.

"I am going to write the chick."

"Look what I made!"

Balancing this takes a lot of fine motor control and coordination.  Great job friend!

This friend noticed that our tree was broken and independently worked to fix it! Noticing a problem and solving it is an important life skill!

Block creations

Outside time

Thank you PTL for the yummy ice cream treat!

While we were outside, one of the chicks from the incubator hatched!

The kindergarten classes came to see the chicks too.

During small group time we observed the chicks.

We decorated some popcorn bags for the bird show.

We sorted upper and lowercase letters.

We also practiced using comparative words and ordered by size.
