We began our day celebrating the National Day of Prayer as a whole school.  We are thankful that we are able to talk to God whenever we want here at Our Shepherd!

Gym time

During small group time we added to our counting activity by switching the pipe cleaners to spaghetti noodles.  The noodles are easily broken, so the friends had to be very careful and use precise fine motor movements as they counted.

The friends continued to make nests out of good junk!

We also made bird words using books and letter tiles.

Spills are a part of life no matter how old you are.  In Pre-K we learn to take responsibility for our messes.  This life skill will positively impact the friends throughout their lives.

Free choice time

"We are making a robot bird machine!"

"There is no more room for tallies!  We should make a new tally chart."

Me: "How many boxes do we need for the new tally chart?"

The friend used what she has learned about counting to solve the problem.

She also made boxes for the new tally chart.

Learning to love books and reading is an important pre-reading disposition that will help the friends as they continue to grow and learn.

We are thankful for Mrs. Dohrman and all that she does for our class!

"I am making a sunglasses holder."

This friend wrote her own book.

"The title of this book is 'Do You Like Birds?'"

"One of the birds was hurt!"

"I am a bird veterinarian.  I help the hurt birds."

"I am making a doctor mast so I don't get sick from helping the birds."

During free choice time we also took the egg out of vinegar!  The friends expanded their vocabulary as we discussed how it feels and smells.

Exploring birdseed

Making boobie traps for the geese outside our window

Second outside time

We enjoyed digging for worms in the mud! We discussed that birds eat worms.  The friends wondered what worms eat?

We took a few worms inside to explore further.  Mrs. Helmkamp documented the friends' thoughts as they explored.

The friends dictated about their shapes birds to me too.

Free choice time

Reading books we wrote to each other.
