This morning during Jesus time we practiced our songs for our Christmas concert.  (Reminder - our concert is Monday, December 18th at 6:30.). We also reviewed the Christmas story.  The angels and shepherds sang praises to God!  We can praise God too for all that He has done for us!

During small group time we worked matching upper and lower case letters to make words.  The friends used clues (pictures and the beginning letter) to help them know what word they were making.

With Mrs. Zwettler, we played a "Mystery Mitten" game.  Mrs. Zwettler hid a letter in the mitten and the friends felt the mitten to see what the letter is.  Mrs. Zwettler gave clues such as beginning sounds of words and/or the letter sound to help the friends.

The friends also used the pattern blocks to make Christmas shapes.  We discussed the shapes that the friends needed to use to make their picture.

"I need four squares."

"I need two diamonds."

The friends then sorted the pom pom balls.  They used comparative words as we sorted.

"This one is too big for this tree."

"This ball is smaller than the others. It's not on the correct tree."

Outside time

During free choice time the friends expressed wonder at the wonder window.

They collaborated in the blocks and the market.

Lego work

During morning meeting we played mystery mitten again.

We also practiced comparing numbers when presented as numerals.  We had a laugh when the big number "ate" the small number!

Second outside time

During second small group time we continued to sort and compare pom pom balls.

We worked on our individual nativity scene.

We also continued to play mystery mitten.

We used the pattern blocks to make Christmas shapes.
