This morning we had so much fun singing this song together!  What a great way to practice rhyming, counting, and composing and decomposing numbers with our hands.

One of the goals of early childhood is for children to see themselves as readers whether they are reading conventionally or not.  As children develop in their reading skills, we encourage them by telling them that they can "read the pictures."

"I know that says he rode a bee because I read the pictures."

We then observed these beautiful flowers provided by the PTL.  (Thank you!!)

"Why are they all different colors?"

"We need to add that question to our wonder wall!"

We then had a visit from our friend bumble.  The friends noticed immediately the recycling symbol on his shirt.  Our friend bumble taught us a song to remind us to use our words when we are upset.  We then reviewed the words that we can use!

During work time we observed the seeds that we planted and the dandelion seeds that we collected.
Another goal of early childhood is for children to see themselves as writers whether they are writing conventionally or not.  It is our goal to provide meaningful opportunities for our friends to write, while developing writing conventions.

"I see the sprout!"

We made our own flower creations with the blocks.

We then documented our creations! (Another opportunity for meaningful writing.  :) )

We also drew renderings of the flowers.

Our friends love letters!  Often they will self select a letter activity such as tracing the letters in our alphabet book.  We want to continue to foster this love of letters as our friends grow and develop.

Exploring maps

The friends then hung their writing in the classroom to read to each other.

Working in the blocks

We love to write!

"I think Zippy needs a bandaid!  Look!"

Our friends also love to order numbers :)

During Jesus time Zippy shared with us that we have a special job to do!  A job that Jesus himself gives us!  We are to spread His love to make new disciples!

After lunch we went out to the creek!
