Happy Monday!

Welcome back for another great week of school!

Last week when the friends noticed more trash in the creek.  This morning we had a discussion about where we think the trash comes from.

"Maybe the animals put it in the creek!"

"Maybe it's the people!"

"If there is a trash can, why don't they put it in a trash can?"

(Mrs. Douglas) "Do you think that some of the things in the creek can be recycled?"

"I read a book about recycling!"

"Recycling helps take care of our planet!"

We then observed (clean) recyclable items and the friends helped find the recycle symbol on them.

We then read a book about recycling!

During snack time, one of the friends noticed a terracycle symbol on their package.

"Can this be recycled?"

(Mrs. Douglas) "Hmm... I'm not sure. "

"Let's search it up on your computer!"

Well we searched it and found out that terracycle has free recycling programs for items that cannot typically be recycled!  We signed up for some of them.  We will collect these items, box them, print a label, put them in the mail, and the company will recycle them for us!   I will send home the information of the items that we are collecting on Friday.  :)

One of the friends noticed our recycling containers here at church, so we walked over to them.  If you are looking for a place to recycle, you can bring your items here!

Back in the classroom the friends worked to make recycle signs.

They also explored shapes and counting with Mrs. D!

We then practiced sorting our recyclable items.  The blue bin is for paper and the green bin is for all other recyclable items.

After lunch we had fun in the gym!
