Happy Friday!

This morning we made a list of the things that we needed to do today.

Making lists and checking things off of a list when they are done helps strengthen executive function skills.

One of the friends brought in recycling items for us.  We checked the bottom to read the recycling symbol and see what number is inside the symbol.  The friends are learning so many important skills!  They are reading the symbol and number confidently.

We then voted on what question we wanted to survey today.  We counted and compared the results!

"Well this one can't be recycled.  There's no recycling symbol on it!"

"This can be recycled!  I see the recycle symbol!"

We had so much fun running and playing on the hill!

We then went out to the creek!

"It is so much louder today!"

"It looks deeper."

"Listen!  Hear the birds?"

The friends asked some questions that I don't know the answer to.  I shared with them that next week our Creek Expert (our visitor from the Hendricks Water and Soil Conservation) will help us find the answers to those questions.

We then sat and listened to our Jesus story for the week.

Back in the classroom we sorted the recycling by number.  This helps our friends recognize and match numbers.

"I have a five.  Where is the five?  Oh here's the five!"

We then wrote our question for our survey.

We also worked to build in the blocks!

We then surveyed a few friends.  The friends chose to ask, "Do you think the deer ate the berries?"  in response to noticing that the bush berries were gone!

The friends worked to track the words as they read the question.  They also practiced one to one correspondence as they made one mark on their graph for each response.  They also practiced reading Yes and No.

After lunch we went outside!
