Mr. Kyle Borcherding led our devotions this morning.

Check out all of our tourist friends!

This morning we made thank you cards with our chapel buddies.  These thank you cards are for our church congregation.  We are so thankful for their love and support of our school!

We. love our chapel buddies!

After snack we had a dance party in our classroom.

During small group time we played Uno.  Like I have said before, there are so many skills practiced in this game! (number recognition, counting, matching, executive function skills, and social skills to name a few!)

We also wrote letters in shaving cream! We engaged our brains as we felt the squishy shaving cream and smelled the floral scent.  We make and store memories by forging new neural pathways to the brain from things we take in through our five senses.  This activity engaged our sense of touch, smell, and sight!

Free choice time

Our friends were creative at the creation station!  Did you know that creative thinking is the highest level thinking skill according to the updated Blooms Taxonomy

"I will be Mrs. Dieckamp and you be Mrs. Douglas."

One goal of early childhood education is deep, rich play.  Some attributes of deep, rich play include:

planning play ("Pretend that you got sick and had to go to the doctor.")

assigning roles ("You be the doctor and I will be the patient.")

large groups involved in the play scenario

The friends' play has grown and developed over the course of the year.  Not only is deep, rich play important, but also it provides opportunities for develop language and social skills.

We love to read!
