Happy Monday!

Today we celebrate a birthday in our class!

This week we are practicing spatial reasoning and shape recognition.  This morning the friends worked to complete the lined tangram puzzle.  They used their shape knowledge as they worked.

"Can you hand me a triangle?"

"What is a triangle?"

This provided a great opportunity for meaningful learning!

Outside time

Outdoor classroom exploration

The friends loved playing with the water from the rain yesterday!

This week we are starting the leader of the day!  Each child will have multiple turns to be the leader throughout the year.  The leader is in the front of the line and helps dismiss friends for outside time, free choice, etc.

During small group time we continued to practice spatial reasoning and shape identification.

"It looks like you need a square."

"What is a square?"

"A square has four sides and four points."

We then practiced writing our names and worked to identify the letters in our name. We added these name tags to our classroom alphabet.  This helps make letters meaningful to the friends.

"I know that letter!  It's in my name!"

"Hazel has an H in her name."

Free choice work

After rest time the friends worked in their journals.  We also were extremely interested in all of the geese out the window!
