Happy Friday!

Please be sure to check out the previous posts from the week as well.  :)

This morning we used rhythm sticks!  We sang "Riding on the Train" as we used our sticks.  Learning  rhythm helps lay a strong foundation for future reading!

Outside time

The friends had so much fun working together in the outdoor classroom!

"How many gourds are there?"

"I see another one!  It's small."

"We are playing campfire."

"Who needs a marshmallow?"

One of the friends made a drum set!

During small group time we practiced matching the letters of our name. Because every child is unique, success for each child is unique.  For some children, success is matching the uppercase letters on the tiles to the lowercase letters on their name tag.  For other children, success is recognizing the letters in their name.  For other children, success is putting the letters of their name in order without using their name tag.  For some children success is identifying which letters are missing when presented with only part of their name.

We work with each child at his / her level of success.  We then work to scaffold him / her to the next level of success.

We also practiced counting and identifying numbers.  :)
