We love reading books!

Gym time!

During small group time the friends practiced writing numbers and counting with Mrs. Lipsey.

They practiced making matches of rhyming words.

With me, the friends did a second drawing of a house.  We will compare this with the first drawing of the house to see how much the friends have learned!

Free choice time

During free choice time we had many opportunities to practice conflict resolution with each other.  Learning social skills are extremely important for children at this age.  (And all ages! :) )

We role played with the puppets a few familiar scenarios.  We discussed how each puppet could handle the situation.  I encourage you to discuss these concepts with your child at home.

What do we do if we want something someone else has?  (Ask how many minutes until my turn)

What do we do if someone takes something away from us?  (Say, "Excuse me.  I had that.  Can I have it back please?")

We also discussed that sometimes friends don't want help from another friend and that is okay.  What do we do when someone doesn't want our help?  (Walk away, tell the friend if you're happy to help if she changes her mind, etc.)

Sometimes we feel angry.  We discussed that it is okay to feel angry, but we need to calm down before doing anything else.  How can we calm down?  (Walk away, take deep breaths, pray, use the calm down book)

What do we do if someone says something mean?  (Tell them that hurt your feelings, walk away, say Jesus still loves you)

Finally, we discussed that all words we say to friends should be said in a kind way.  (Ephesians 4:15) We shared examples of kind voices and unkind voices.

We then prayed and asked God to forgive our bad choices.  We know that He forgives us, and He will always love us! We prayed that we may speak kindly and make good choices to those around us.

Second free choice time

The friends did a nice job of using kind words to each other.
