This morning many of the friends were interested in finding the items in the search and find tubes.

Some of the friends wanted to explore the bugs we used yesterday in small group time.

Train play is always a morning favorite!

We are learning to work together and solve our own social problems.  We are learning strategies that include asking a friend the following questions:

"Can I play with you?"
"How many minutes until my turn?"

As we walked to the playground, we looked for other items to add to our alphabet.  The children were very excited and interested!  Look what we found!

F-F-Fire Alarm

R-R-Restroom

C-C-Cross

G-G-Grill

T-T-Tree

P-P-Playground

T-T-Table

The children had the choice of the big playground or the other playground this morning.  I played with the children who chose the big playground, and Mrs. Zwettler played with the children on the other playground.

(Some of us had wet bottoms from sliding down wet slides.)

On the way back to the classroom, we saw Pastor Lepley. We are so thankful for our two awesome Pastors at Our Shepherd! We are going to add him to our alphabet too!

During small group time we worked on counting out numbers on a ten frame.  This strengthens number recognition, counting, and one to one correspondence. It also lays the foundation for future math learning about addition!

We refined our fine motor skills as we wrote in our journals.

We also painted coffee filters.  Tomorrow we will use starch on the filters to make them hard.  We will hang them from our ceiling for a classroom piece of artwork!

After lunch and quiet time, we went back outside to play.

Before second free choice, I asked the children to describe to me what they were going to play and how they were going to play it.  This promotes language development as well as helps the children scaffold their level of play.  When children plan their play, they are also increasing their cognitive capabilities!

We then went to the gym to learn all about the magazine fundraiser.  Information packets will be sent home tomorrow.  Our friends are super excited about the fundraiser!
