Welcome back to another great week of school!

This morning we shared the gym with the upper grades as they worked on SciFest.

Our friends were very interested in watching them!

They were working to secure an egg so when it drops from a ladder, it doesn't break.

During small group time the friends put all of what we have learned about houses to work!  They created different items to put in our house for the classroom.

The friends are using self-initiative, problem solving, and collaboration to complete their items made out of good junk.  They are learning how to work together and how to persevere when something takes a while to work.

One friend wanted to make a lamp.  He problem solved how to make the lamp and figured out a way to make "electricity" for the lamp to turn on.

"We need a microwave too."

"Oh! Let's make a refrigerator!"

"I think we need remotes for the TV too."

With Mrs. Lipsey, the friends sorted letters by uppercase and lowercase.  They also practiced letter recognition and the sounds of the letters.

The friends continued to explore the number tiles and counting.

During free choice time, the friends continued to work on their items for the house.

"This is a washing machine for the house."

"I am working on a TV for the house so all of the kids can watch a movie together."

"I am making electricity for the lamp so that it turns on."

"We need a switch on the lamp for the electricity."

Many of the friends collaborated to make a sink for the kitchen.

They worked together to figure out a way to make the sink stand up.

"We need pipes to bring the water!"

Painting the washing machine

"The microwave is red."

"I am making the dishwasher."

"Oh I know! We need a play mat for the babies!"

Painting the refrigerator

"The TV needs electricity!"

The friends drew plugs for the electrical wires.

After much hard work, problem solving, collaboration, and tape,  the friends were able to paint the sink.
