This morning we started our day with morning meeting!  During the school day we often play with the sounds of our language.  This is the ability to do this is called phonemic awareness.  I encourage you to this at home too!  Here are some fun and easy things you can do at home to support phonemic awareness at home:
  • play rhyming games
  • make silly sentences that have the same beginning sound ("Mary makes many marshmallows.")
  • chop and blend words ("What word is this? c/a/t")
Gym time!

During small group time we continued to practice letter recognition and sounds as well as letter formation as we wrote letters in mud!

The friends continued to work on their own doorbell.  Tomorrow we will hang the doorbells to test them out and see if they work!

The friends also worked on their blueprints of the classroom and their bedroom.

I worked with friends individually to complete some formal assessments.  These are a "piece to the puzzle" that inform us how to best address each student's needs.

Free choice time

After planning our play, the friends followed their plan.
