Welcome back to another week of school!

This morning we re-read the story Caps for Sale.

As we read, we had opportunities to expand our vocabulary.  Now that the friends are familiar with the story, they focused on other things that are not familiar to them.

"What does peddler mean?"

"Oh! Cap is the same as a hat!"

We practiced our bible words for the week too!

We were able to go outside before the weather hit.  Praise God!

During snack time the friends discussed the height of their water bottle.  They used comparative words.

I joined in the discussion and introduced the word equal.

"Are any of these water bottles equal?"

"What does equal mean?"

"I know!  It means the same size!"

"Can we teach the class about equal?"

They did!

Small group time

Our friends are learning important pre-reading concepts including print orientation, context clues from the pictures, and most importantly they are learning to love books!

The friends used the pieces that they made to retell the story of Caps for Sale.

The friends also wrote books!

With me, we explored the concept equal more in depth.

"14 dominoes is equal to the ten frame!"

"I can write 14!"
