This morning some of the friends chose to write their name in a color pattern.  As the friends were discussing it with each other, one of the friends asked, "What is a pattern?"

The friends applied their knowledge of patterns as they worked to describe what a pattern is.

We discussed that a pattern repeats over and over forever.  Once a pattern has started, it doesn't change!

"Just like Jesus!  He doesn't change!"

We then took turns completing or making patterns.

The friends then helped me fix patterns that I made with mistakes.

"Mistakes help us learn!"

We were then able to go outside for a bit before the rain came.

During work time the friends worked with me to extend their knowledge of patterns.

Here are some phrases that you can use when discussing patterns at home:

"Read the pattern to me."  (Be sure to start reading the pattern on the left)

"What comes next?"

"Is that the same as the beginning?"

"Where does it repeat?"
