We are excited to celebrate Valentine's Day together tomorrow from 10:30-11:30.  Your child is welcome to send Valentines in for the class.  (We have 18 children in the class.)  I encourage you to have your child to write his/her name on the Valentines cards.  If your child wants to write more, encourage him/her to write "friend" on the "to" portion of the card.  Please let me know if you have any questions.

It was so nice to be back with our class today.  :)  I was so excited to be back with the friends that I forgot to take pictures of our free choice time.  My apologies.

We were all excited to go outside to run and play this morning.

During small group time we worked together to complete heart puzzles.  A number was written on one side of the puzzle, and the quantity in dots was on the other.  The friends worked collaboratively to complete these puzzles.  This activity promotes social skills that will benefit the children throughout their lives as well as foundational math skills.

With Mrs. Zwettler, the friends made bags for their Valentines.

With me, the friends played a game that helped increase lower case letter recognition as well as the sounds of the letters.  These are foundational literacy skills.

During Jesus time we learned the story of the Lost Son as found in Luke 15:11-32.  We learned that sometimes we do what we want instead of what God wants us to do.  Even though we don't deserve to be called His children, our compassionate God welcomes us and forgives us!  Through the power of the Holy Spirit, we can tell God we're sorry for our sins and feel relieved when we repent and are forgiven.

During second free choice we built a flower shop!

The friends few flowers to decorate it.

We labeled the police station.

We also labeled the flower shop!

Some friends worked to build a pet shop too. :)

During second free choice we completed the number puzzles.

We graphed valentine hearts.

With Mrs. Zwettler, we played a game that increases letter recognition and letter/sound correlation.
